Many clinicians think each license has its own CE rules. It does not. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) sets one set of renewal requirements for LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCCs.
One-time and first-renewal courses count toward your 36 hours only if you take them during your renewal period. A one-time course taken before your renewal period still meets the one-time requirement but does not count toward the 36 hours.
LEPs: the 36 hours, law and ethics, suicide risk, and telehealth rules are the same. The first renewal is different: LEPs need child abuse assessment and reporting (7 hours) and alcoholism and chemical dependency (15 hours) instead of HIV/AIDS.
